Tax Time and kids

Okay so today is April 14th, one day till the big 15th when Uncle Sam has his hand out.

I have a 20 yo who owes because she did not listen to us when we told her "your getting tips, you better save $$ so you can pay taxes on that CASH your getting".   Well,  2 months ago I completed her taxes,  and this year the IRS is allowing you to send a request asking for your balance to be forgiven or reduced.

I reminded her several times to "submit" that request  and this would allow the IRS to review her request and make a determination.     Well, the submit button was pushed last weekend, 5 days before the money is due.  She is looking at her email everyday to see if the IRS accepted it and forgiving her for her portion.   I tried to explain to her that the IRS does not work that fast and to get that check ready.

Well, as of today no check has been written, taxes has not been printed.  And she will FORGET to do this.  I told her it needs to be done by the 14th.   She is a very forgetful young lady and it's never her fault.  @*#(@&!!#@

:)   I love my home life

  1. So she comes in and out through out the day very frustrated slamming the doors, wont speak to anyone other than a grumble. I start getting texts around 430 asking whats the address.

I had to ask. Address for what? What are you sending. Her reply, my money order and w2's.
me: No, you need to send the coupon
    her: what coupon
me: the coupon that you would of received when you printed off your taxes
her: I didn't print them off, do I have to? My mom said to send my w2
me: Your mom is incorrect (I'm step mom). You have to send in the coupon and it has the address you need

Now I get a phone call... she had been crying I could hear in her voice. I asked why are you crying, what is going on. I can't find anywhere to print my taxes from. Come home child, I have ink in our printer (I was out until today).

After everything was done and the envelope was sealed I told her. "honey, it's not due till tomorrow". She threw her hands around me, gave me a big hug and said "sometimes I can't stand you but you know me very well and I'm glad you pushed me so thank you". We both knew that if today was the 15th, something would of happen and her taxes would not of made the deadline.

    Kids!!!
